Welcome to “Ask Jill!” The New Monthly Blog Series at TrimStudioFL.com
Jill Campbell is Trim Studio’s Lead Aesthetician and Client Consultant. In addition to her aesthetics licensing, she is a Master Trained Cryoskin Provider, a Verju Consultant and a graduate of CoolSculpting University–a technology she specialized in before making her switch to the less invasive modalities offered at Trim.
Jill has more than two decades of experience working in beauty, science and aesthetics but we’d argue that her most important quality is her wonderful soul. Her kindness and approachable nature has earned her a reputation of trust and exceptional service within the Trim Studio community. We are honored to launch the “Ask Jill!” blog series here at Trim Studio to give her a platform and a voice, and we invite you to submit your questions to us via email or social media! We’ll continue to make our way through answering them through this monthly series. Enjoy!
Q: “What can I do to make my treatments work more? I did a some sessions at a place in Nevada before I moved here, and they didn’t really tell me what to do. Is there something I can do at home to make the Cryoskin or Verju results better?” -G.F.
A: “First of all, thank you so much for even asking this question! This is something I go over with every client, because when we work on a treatment plan we do so together as a team. It’s both our jobs to get you the best results possible, and this means that I need to give you the best treatment I possibly can, but also that you have some important jobs to do also.
“The most important thing you can do is to drink water like it’s going out of style. You can calculate your own body’s water needs using water calculators, but shoot for about 3-4 liters per day, give or take. Whether it’s CryoSlimming or Verju results you’re after, the drainage of the lymphatic system is crucial. Whether the fat cells die or they drain, all of this goes through our lymphatic system. Water is THE substance which makes this process possible.
“After drinking water, the next best things is to get your heart rate up and work out. Taking the dog around the block is activity, but it’s not exactly “exercise.” I don’t mean you should sign up for a marathon, but shoot for breaking a sweat and having difficulty speaking. These are indicators that you got things really moving. Remember, the lymphatic system does’t have a heart-like pump. Instead, as you breathe and move your muscles, your lymph continuously gets pushed toward the heart from the outer reaches of your body. In short, movement = lymphatic drainage.
“Diet plays an important role in results as well. So long as you are not actively gaining weight (consuming more than you are burning), you are likely to see results. We prefer you maintain a moderate diet while undergoing treatment – no diet pills or crazy starvation diets, please! For CryoSlimming patients, it’s key you follow instructions given and avoid eating carbs 2 hours before and 2 hours after treatment.
“Albeit a rare reaction, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), i.e. over-the-counter anti-inflammatory pain relief medications like Advil or Aleve, can sometimes cause interference with the body’s normal lymphatic drainage process. Translation: Slower results. If you are noticing issues with lagging results and are looking for reasons why, try swapping your regular OTC medication for Tylenol and see if you notice a difference.
“Beyond these points, massage, compression treatments, infrared sauna blanket sessions and getting a good night’s sleep will all help you get the results you’re looking for. Remember, we’re in this together! Your success is my success, and I can’t wait to see you reach your goals.”
