Cryolipo—huh?? Way too many syllables, we know. We’re here to help answer these same questions we once had, like what is cryolipolysis? How the heck does it work and is it really permanent? Join us as we dive into the science behind the incredible technology of fat freezing.
What is Cryolipolysis? (kry—yo—lie—POL—uh—sis)
First let’s break down the word. Cryo- simply means it involves cold, lipo literally means fat and -lysis is a word used in science to describe when something disintegrates or decomposes, such as a cell.
Thus, the word cryolipolysis literally means destruction of fat cells by exposure to cold.
Cryoskin is the leading technology we use at Trim Studio to perform cryolipolysis, a treatment we call CryoSlimming. Using this super safe and effective system, we see pockets of fat in targeted areas such as the tummy, lovehandles arms and legs literally start to disappear in front of our eyes, treatment after treatment.
Cryolipolysis is Permanent, But it Doesn’t Mean You’ll “Lose Weight”
Yes, you read that right. Once the fat cells are dead, they’re dead. Gone. Bye bye, forever. Despite this, you may not see the scale budge at all. Confused yet? Don’t worry, just keep reading.
If you’ve ever dieted and lost weight, we hate to tell you, but you actually didn’t shed a single fat cell from your body. Sadly, when we lose weight fat cells merely shrink in size but the overall number of fat cells we have in our body is maintained. In the entire course of life, the human body never loses fat cells. There are only 2 exceptions to this:
The first one is to cut out cells and tissue with invasive liposuction surgery.
The second is cryolipolysis.
Cryolipolysis is a completely non-surgical way to freeze, destroy, and actually reduce the number of fat cells in a treated area. Using Cryoskin, we eradicate fat cells and thus affect the overall number of cells which remain in the body. Although it may not work exactly the same way on every single body, this is a medically proven fact.
Is Cryolipolysis For Everyone?
Although Cryoskin is widely recognized throughout Europe and the US as being safe, there are a few contraindications to keep in mind, including:
- Raynaud’s syndrome
- People who suffer from very poor circulation
- Pregnant and/or breastfeeding mothers (Exception: CryoFacial)
- Severe diabetes and/or neuropathy
- Cancer
- Liver disease
- Kidney disease
- People who have had Botox or Fillers in the last month (This relates to CryoToning of the face only)
The use of Cryoskin is not appropriate for clients with any of these conditions or circumstances. If you have questions about whether any of the above apply to you, please let us know before starting treatments.
